NextCloud Tutorial
NextCloud is an Free Software file sharing platform. It allows us to share files within our team through a web interface as well as directly though a synchronized folder in our computer.
Logging In
1) Go to https://files.revlog.unige.ch
2) Click on “Log in with RevlogID”
3) Enter your RevLogID username and password. Click the “Remember Me” checkbox so that you won't be asked for the password again.
If you don't know your RevlogID account details please contact IT support on Zulip
4) Done!
Using The Web Interface
In the web interface, you'll se the RevLog folder. Everything that you put there will be available for all the team to access.
Adding Files
You can just drag and drop a file or a directory from your computer into the webpage, and it will be uploaded.
Alternatively, you can click on + New and then Upload Files or Upload Folders and select the file or folder that you want to upload
Sharing A File
All files on the RevLog folder are accessible by all RevLog members, so you can just let them know where the file is located.
Alternatively:
Click the sharing icon on the file or folder you want to share:
If the user is internal (ie has a revlog account) you can click on the “Internal Link” icon (arrow 'A' in the figure below)
If the user is external, click on 'Share Link' to create a public link (arrow 'B' in the figure below)
Public links are read-only by default. If you'd like the external user to be able to also modify the file, click in “view only” just below “Share link” and then choose “Can Edit”
Viewing a File Revision
Old Versions of a file are kept. To see them, click on the … thee dot icon next to a file name, then Detail, then Versions
